You Think Because You Think You Do — 2010
It started with a single line. A face drawn without lifting the pen from the paper — one movement becoming eyes, nose, mouth and identity.
In the final work, that simple line becomes surrounded by an explosion of colour, fragments and visual information. The calm simplicity of the original drawing remains visible underneath it all, while the world around it becomes increasingly complex.
"You Think Because You Think You Do" is about the strange relationship between thinking and being.
How much of who we are is simply there — and how much is created by the endless stream of thoughts through which we try to understand ourselves?
